What are the obstacles that you have experienced for the smooth development of education in this locality? What strategies have you developed for the possible solutions?
The majority of people are from Madhesi community in this locality. Still in most of rural and geographically backward areas the concept of giving education to daughters is hard to find. Due to lack of awareness on the importance of female education most families still neglect to send their daughters to school. Similarly, the government has adopted discouraging policies and practices for private educational institutions. As a result, such policies have become sabotage for smooth development of education in this locality. Still, some parents, who send their daughters to school, mostly admit their daughters in government schools and sons in private schools. So, we have adopted a strategy of giving scholarship to the needy girl students. Our school provides scholarship to 10% of the students enrolled. The scholarship is given mostly to the girls from backward, marginalized, Madhesis, Muslims, Tharu communities and economically less advantaged groups. We have been organizing various awareness programs to increase the number of girl children in the school.
What suggestions would you like to give to the Chief Minister for enhancement of quality education in this province?
Education is highly influenced and affected by unwanted political activities. The government has also adopted suppressive and discriminating policies that directly impede the smooth functioning of private educational institutions. So, I suggest the Chief Minister to make private-institution friendly education policies and adopt the principle of public-private partnership without any further delay.
Do you have anything to say at last?
Again, I request all parents to send their daughters to school. We should understand that society and nation can achieve the desirable change only after ensuring that all the daughters have received education. I also express my thanks to you and your team for covering the issues of our province and letting me reach out up to a large audience who will be able to know about our ongoing programs, efforts and plans for mounting the academic status of this province.
