Sagarmatha Secondary School is a well-established co-educational institution. It is one of the renowned academic institutions of this locality that has been disseminating quality education under parental care. It promotes qualitative and life changing education through qualified, devoted and prodigious teachers. In addition, it provides all the government facilities to the teachers. It has rich physical infrastructures that encompass spacious classrooms, cutting-edge laboratories and a library.

Who inspired you to embark on education sector?

I have positive influence of my father who carried his academic service for a long time with devotion. My father spent his whole life in teaching at a government school by following the rules and regulations of the government. I was fired further by his devotion and dedication to embark on education sector independently. So, I started teaching at reputed schools in Kathmandu and gained a phenomenal experience of disseminating quality education as a private institutional tutor. In the beginning, I started my breadwinning career from a private boarding school at Boharatar with my maternal uncle. Subsequently, I decided to establish a school in my local area. So, I handled a pre-primary school which was established by Ram and Binod Sitaula. 

Since I have earned an M.Sc. the local people raised many questions about my qualification that I was involved in a pre-primary school even after attaining a master’s degree.  So, their dubious temperament galvanized me and it eventually led me to embark on establishment of a school in my locality. So, I started a school by selling my 10 katthas of land. Similarly, I took a loan from Agricultural Development Bank. Currently, this school is well-known for its world class education. We are successful in giving 100% results and standing in 1st position in the district. We provide attractive salaries and other facilities to the deserving pedagogues.

It is rumored that there is a great confusion in private sector education. As an academician with long experience in administering a private institution, what suggestions would you like to give to the government for education enhancement?

In my experience, the government is not worried about running government schools but is worried about discouraging the private educational institutions. So, the government should treat private educational institutions positively by admiring their immense contributions. Moreover, the government should implement private-friendly education policies and practices for enhancing education status of this locality. Generally, the local people are drawing their interests towards private schools, but the government has created a stand-offish environment that emasculates the spirit of those institutions that deliver quality education at affordable fee structure. There are many discriminating policies and practices of the government towards private sector which should be amended once and for all.

Could you bring on the spotlight the academic activities of PABSON?

PABSON is an umbrella organization of all privately-run education institutions. It has been working for the enhancement of education of this district but the government has not accepted our true contributions to the academic sector in Nepal. So, we are giving pressure to the government to make private-friendly academic policies. Private education institutions are well-wishers of the government which should be acknowledged by the government without further delay. They have resolved unemployment problem which is worth of appreciation. Students, teachers and the school have paid tax to the government. Our school Sagarmatha alone has provided employment opportunities to 150 people. Considering this fact, the government should treat the private educational institutions positively.

How suggestions would you like to give to the government for the enhancement of education spectrum of province 2?

The government has spent a huge budget for enhancement of education in government-funded schools and colleges. Teachers are provided regular training. Still, their level of education has not improved in Nepal due to vague policies and programs of the government. Province 2 has fertile soil and the people are laborious. So, we should produce skilled human resources for the enhancement of academic sector. Knowledge and technology can bring change in society. So, producing technical manpower particularly in agriculture, engineering and medical sectors is the urgent need of today.So, government should co-operate with the private sector by bringing private friendly educational policies.
